Don’t just open, read

"I'm the book people always opened but never read."

Maybe the table of contents is overwhelming or the preface is beyond their comprehension. However, one should not be afraid to venture beyond the surface – if they are granted access may I add. Access is granted if genuine interest is shown; not for gossip, not for mockery, not for destruction but for insight with the intent to bond.

As we go through the chapters we may discover similarities or talents or that we are just hot grease and Pepsi but can amicably yet silently create boundaries for our relationship.

One will never learn if one never goes beyond opening the book.

Don’t be disappointed when you are not supported by those you expected to support you or you have always supported.

It’s just life’s way of switching you to another path on your tree of life; preparing to change your circle… sometimes #people are #tapped out when it comes to you, vice-versa.

#Embrace it, #welcome it, be #glad in it!

My Love, My Heart

Dedicated to a woman who watched the love of her life transition into the unseen universe. When his walk on earth ended she lost part of herself.

When you find a soulmate you also awaken desires that you never knew existed. Emotions, ideas, dreams are no longer dormant or merely a fantasy, for together you can see them to fruition. Now her soulmate is no more, but that which was awakened in her cannot go back to sleep.  She wears the mask to get through the day and weeps at night for she believes there is no relief in sight.

We have all felt the loss of love, but we cannot dwell in that loss too long for we lose valuable time living when we dwell in death.

Soulspiration: Buds in bloom speaks…

This tree was planted in 2007, the year my daughter Quinn was born. #Symbolic of #life and #rebirth. No matter how dark and damp things may appear we are reminded that it’s just a moment in time. My Fab 5 family has risen above negativity within ourselves and others. We have managed to have everything while having nothing for we know when to ‘ignore the world’ for one another. We are small but strong. #EverydayIsHumpDay

A man who bans prior to having plans

melting-pot
Dr. Seuss would have made a great  book from this title
“A man who bans prior to having plans
Told the woman she must leave this land
In her country she was always being beat
She barely had food to eat
She would rather die than go back
So 30 pills to her eternal dirt nap’
Whatever you may think of “us” #immigrants never lose sight of the fact that “we” contributed to this America creating the #MeltingPot it is today. Collectively we all benefit from it’s cultural #diversity, you can travel the world without ever getting on plane. We have gained more than we have lost from immigration. Many jokes have been told about people from one country having 10 jobs, or another country doing a specific type of job, but none-the-less they work hard. As with any organization, group of friends or even your own family there will always be people with less than stellar reputations, who don’t follow rules but you do not execute the entire group for the negative behaviors that amount to a small fraction of the whole.
How do you support the ban on a group of people, without a plan? (I’m not saying I agree or disagree) Does this mean if you ask a question, the answer is ‘no’, then you follow up with ‘why’, the response is ‘because I said so,’ you’re good with that?
We can all agree, it’s not what you do it’s how you do it. Corporation tactics don’t apply to running the country. “Make America Great” starts with building a foundation of respect for human beings irrespective of the factors that make us different. If the fraction is hurting the country from a long term view then present it accordingly, along with a plan of correction, then ban. You can’t change years overnight. If you want to bring your corporate training to this position use what applies strategic planning, impact analysis, incremental implementation. Wanton execution of executive orders is not the silver bullet to greatness, it’s the real time version of Snap’s The Power, “Like the crack of the whip, I Snap attack.
Taken off the pages of Social Studies books to the film reel, School House Rock musically translated with cartoon images the greatness of America’s Melting Pot, 1977. Are we getting the strainer or better yet the cheesecloth to purify America, is that your “great?” Are you using the guise of protection for other purposes, selectively granting a pass to other countries due to investments holdings? Well, you showed everyone who you are, told them what you would do, and you’re doing it. For the time being we will just ride this out until the wheels fall off or the wall is built whichever comes first.

“Till” you decided to tell the truth

#EmmetTill #Time waits for no one but it will wait for#truth Truth -higher than any God, it’s grand reveal is not an ah ha moment but acceptance of reality even in its ugliest form and not the #perception for the purpose of keeping up appearances. So much undue pain, wrongful punishment at the expense of others. Time lost, never to be recouped. #Discovery of self has finally empowered you to speak the truth. YES, YES you are free from this weight you carried as you hid all these years!! The family of the real victim, for it was never you, and the village who shared in the real victims pain since 1955 should feel… There is nothing to feel, privilege allowed your lie to live and him to die. When he died so did the many generations within him. Has much changed today? Truth is backed with video yet and still the jury of our “peers” are filled with “perception-ists”, the privilege walk free while the real victim is left to rot along with the generations within. May your soul be restless for freeing of truth does not free you from your #crime.

We are on the menu

on-the-menu

Since we are in the age of shortcuts #X has become more powerful than when it was Malcolm’s last name. Let’s X-clude direct wording of #race #gender #sexualpreference #politicalaffiliation as we look at this #quote. Now take one change where main voices are X-cluded, example… Why do you easily accept a single group who cannot perform a particular task to make a decision for those who can? Shouldn’t the #handthatrocksthecradle have input into that which they are born with the power to do? Are they not needed to help create bodies for those seats? Is this an attempt to reverse time?Where are we heading? While we are waiting to see the alleged benefits, how many lives will we be losing through basement methods and lack of access #healthcare

Targeted Lives Matter

I have been sitting in the cut listening and reading people’s views on the concept of #BlackLivesMatter. I sat silently because its times like these you truly learn about the people in your circle. They expose their true thoughts and many don’t think before they speak or write. Thanks to social media everyone writes and once written it’s extremely difficult to retract. Why? We have all created a historical tag for ourselves.

Individually we write our own chapter in history, then like minds come together and there begins the creation of the collective which leads to segmented chapters. Now these segmented views can’t fit all into one book so volumes are created. Each book cannot stand on its own, as each contains its own problem(s) and spill over.  If we can solve the problem(s) before the spill over it can lead to the resolution in the next installment.

For those who know me one of my common answers is “just get over it” or “it is what it is.” However, that doesn’t work for every situation, definitely not when the issue relates to the countless mishandling of black people by law enforcement. I have seen my Facebook “associates” (all of them are definitely not friends) write “all lives matter so get over it”, “they need to grow up already it’s not just black people”, “omg they are getting on my nerves with Black Lives Matter, what the fuck about the rest of us”… and on and on.

So “what the fuck” about you? Well here’s the “fuck” about you and trust me I’m beyond grown up and you’re not that significant to get on my nerves. Maybe if you removed your horse blinders, rose colored glasses and stepped out of your respective ivory towers, looked at a reflection other than your own you would understand what the #BlackLivesMatter movement is truly about.

For the record I’m of mixed race, light skin, a woman, an immigrant, fully educated, have been subjected to racism and sexism from all walks of life. People find a way to section me like an orange and stick me into their group of choice and make me a target, be it good or bad.

Targeted lives matter does not ignore the fact that all lives matter. What it highlights is that we need to focus on resolving a problem in one of the volumes in the history books we have written to stop proliferation of it from one volume to the next.

You cannot ignore the fact that this country was built on lies, theft, immigrants, blood, sweat, tears, discrimination and it all seems to be stuck in a loop with a distinct emphasis on discrimination and blood. Who gives anyone the right to make the decision of who lives or dies based on color?

You are offended by the #BlackLivesMatter movement but when the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando became a one man killing spree which was clearly targeting the LGBT community you did not resound with such negative support. You even temporarily changed your Facebook profile picture with the rainbow overlay…

Wait, my bad because you have homosexual family members so it’s different.

When there are campaigns for Cancer, ALS, Lupus you don’t respond with “all diseases matter”…

Wait, Cancer runs in your family; your son’s girlfriend has lupus; you’re neighbors’ mother passed away from ALS.

When there are campaigns for Autism you don’t respond with “all birth defects matter”…

Wait, your son/daughter’s teacher has a child with Autism.

Things cannot only “matter” when you have a direct connection to it.

Interestingly enough you accept that people have different religious views and you may not agree with their practices. However, you don’t say “their religion doesn’t matter.” You may challenge translations but you dare not say “your belief doesn’t matter.”

Women of color are invisible victims at the hands of police brutality. Often times those cases go under the radar, so should the #BrownLivesMatter movement for women be snuffed out, just like those women have been unjustly snuffed out?

Recently I hosted an event in conjunction with Truth Healing Urban Girls which focused on the human trafficking epidemic of children. Where we wrong to focus on the sex aspect of human trafficking and only the children? We are fully aware that human trafficking impact men, women and children. It’s not limited to sex but labor, yet we chose to focus on our children.

If we don’t have people coming together to address a particular need we will never have hope for a resolution. Life is about numbers we don’t tackle the full problem we break things down into components. It’s elementary, in life is an order of operations.

So while you may view the #BlackLivesMatter movement as “ignorant” or “childish” many view it as necessary just like all of the many non-profit organizations that were formed to tackle a component of the bigger issue.

Better yet, every modern convenience we enjoy today is based on someone trying to solve a problem that will bring order to chaos or reduce the labor required to bring us comfort. We are so comfortable we take for granted what we have at the expense of another’s labor: indoor plumbing, electricity, transportation, stoves, washing machines, refrigeration, educational facilities, medical institutions, summer camps, backyard pools, clothes, shoes, technology… the list is infinite

I cannot tell you how to feel, think or what to accept nor should you tell those affected by modern day racism to “get over it.” When a bully attacks someone you know, your child, your family or you directly, try telling everybody “get over it.”

This is not a paper cut. Supporting a cause is a choice so you can choose to support or just stay silent. Just remember there are many warped minded people and at any time you can become a target because some feels “your kind” is not worthy to walk “their” land.

The same way there is a subset of racist law officers there is a subset of people who hate law officers. In both cases it’s the innocent until proven guilty who are walking bullseyes.

Yes we must address lives that are targeted in an effort to reduce bullseyes, restore order and weaken the enemies. Every war has a strategic focus and does not by any means devalue the needs or issues of others.

On a side note I don’t like abbreviating #BlackLivesMatter. Too many lives have been wrongfully abbreviated so let all the words for the cause be spelled out for as long as justice takes.

Everybody is talking about forgiving…

IMG_9025

“Time heals all wounds.”

Time… How much of it do we truly have? Wounds heal yet leave a scar to remind us of our injury. So how do we forgive for our scars never truly let us forget? As i think about all the jumbled pain I feel in an effort to find ways of reconciliation I come back to how much more time will I need to heal?

“We never know the day or the hour”

At this rate “When my roll is called up yonder” I will be transitioning with unforgiveness in my heart. Just the thought of that makes me a little more depressed. Many people could care less about letting go of anger, pain and heartbreak. For them it is all part of life, yes this is true, but do we want those things to become part of our death?

Holding on to these negative feelings kills a piece of you every day.  The snowball rolls increasing in size and the more it grows so does the bitterness and disillusionment of ‘how wonderful life can be.’ It chips away at the possibility of fulfilling dreams in this life… To the best of our knowledge THIS is all we have.

“So you live, so you die..”

I don’t want to take the weight of unforgiveness anywhere, do you? How can we be pulled up into the rapture if our hearts are heavy?  How can our spiritual souls travel the astral plains with weighted ankles?

“The longest Psalm has amen…”

We all have differing spiritual beliefs, despite those differences we share the common ground of wanting/needing to remove the weight of emotional pain. If we had the power to turn back time it would be to do things differently so we can release pain and increase love… Love ourselves, a person, a passion.

Time is not limitless, it’s precious and we waste so much of it…. So how do we begin to heal

The journey of healing and releasing those weights will take on different forms: prayer, meditation, exercise, charity work, music, writing, traveling, speaking … It’s all about replacement. Whatever medium you choose never choose the path of indifference or self -destruction.

When you become indifferent there are no feelings left and you become even more hardened to the world. Those ankle weights rise up weighing down your calves, knees, thighs… You become firmly set, like cement, and you have given power to the darkness.

That darkness fuels your self-destruction… Covering those weights with drugs, alcohol, wanton behaviors that often end up leading to self-assisted death. Pain so deep that the strength to heal is overpowered by the desire to die. You take temporary solace in self-destructive behavior to quiet the voices in your head that remind you of pain and raise the voices of darkness that convince you to eliminate pain by repeating acts of self-destruction. Then one day the voices are no more, you are no more. Did it fix your problem or just extend the cycle of pain to the loved ones you have left grieving, wondering how could I have helped? Why didn’t I listen more, see more…?

“Life is filled with pain and disappointment.”

Oh yes it is, for some more than others. One thing that holds true once you work through the pain and disappointment you can find renewed strength. You can be a voice to others, the ears to listen, the arms to hug, the hope for someone else.

What you needed you can now offer to someone else. When you become an anchor for another they will become an anchor for you.

Back to the beginning…is it that time heals wounds? I guess that’s a personal assessment.  the desire to heal starts within oneself and we must reach out to others so we will not rot within.

For me… My replacements are in motion and if they fail I will find better ones. I have no time to waste on people or things in which we don’t share a mutual level of value.
